Our story
Alexandria Metal Works was founded in 1987, at a time when Egypt did not have a large-scale cutlery manufacturer.
Founders Abou Hamda and Emam set out to close that gap by establishing the country's first industrial-scale stainless steel cutlery production facility, initially in partnership with Japanese technology and machinery. The company expanded rapidly: within two years, Alexandria Metal Works built an in-house tooling workshop for molds and spare parts, taking an early step toward the fully integrated production model it operates today.
By bringing all major stages of manufacturing in-house — from raw material processing to finished goods — the company maintains direct control over specifications, consistency, and output. This structure helped Alexandria Metal Works grow into one of the largest stainless steel cutlery manufacturers across the Middle East, Africa, and Europe.
What we make
Alexandria Metal Works produces stainless steel tableware, flatware, kitchen knives, kitchen tools, trays, and serving items. We also manufacture a dedicated range for cafés and restaurants, including coasters, napkin holders, and spice containers. Our design approach focuses on durability, performance, and suitability for both household and commercial use.
We source raw materials from France, Germany, Belgium, Spain, South America, Taiwan, and Japan. All products are manufactured in compliance with international and Egyptian standards under ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 18001 certifications.
Alexandria Metal Works also remains the only factory in Egypt that produces hardened kitchen knife blades, applying specialized steel treatment processes and dedicated equipment to achieve this capability.
Distribution & export
Alexandria Metal Works distributes its products through established partners across North Africa, the Middle East, and Europe, serving both retail chains and hospitality clients, including hotels and restaurants.
Today, Alexandria Metal Works exports approximately 25% of its total production, with continued expansion into new markets. The company's fully integrated production model — controlling every stage from raw material processing to finished goods — ensures consistent quality that meets the demands of international buyers.
